Happy Fourth of July everyone! Here's a look at what I've been up to and what I'm planning for July: First off, June was crazy and packed with different kinds of madness. I took part in a scavenger hunt across Cleveland using the RTA to get to each different destination. I saw The Book of Mormon with my family, it was fantastic, filled with crude humor and heart. And there's been a few movies and books and plumbing problems and a hoist of thunder storms. Oh, my brother and I started a new blog where we review music, its called Vinyl Hermanos, you should check it out.
Onto July! This coming week I will be on vacation up in northern Wisconsin. So you will most likely not hear from me until I get back. In the meantime I plan to do some writing and reading and swimming. If all goes according to plan I will have more things to post upon my return. Such as a post with some summer music picks, and maybe a few stories, maybe a book review, more poems/songs(whatever they are), and who knows what else.

July, July
I've already featured this song if you've been keeping track, but when I think "July" this is what comes to mind.

Happy Fourth: Gunshots in the Distance, Sparklers in the Mist
Hello everybody and everyone, I haven't been as frequent with my posting lately, though I have been meaning to post many different things. That's just how things go sometimes, like it or not. Sadly I will also be gone for a week without internet access so there will not be any posts next week either, since I will be relaxing in Northern Wisconsin, kayaking around our small lake, snorkeling and hopefully getting some writing done. And even when I do not have the time to write things down, I never stop thinking of fantastical ideas and stories. So those of you, if there are any, don't despair I've got some wondrous ideas rolling about, I just need to take the time to get them out. I need to take the time to lower the bucket into the well and see what cool water lays at the bottom. I've got to be Tom Thumb and find what lies down there.
I was thinking earlier: what better way to celebrate Independence Day than by writing out a few words, for even a few words is a wonderful way to express our freedom of speech. I'm thankful I have this blog and the ability to say what sometimes occurs to me. Here's some music to go with, complete with many examples of dancing, I hope you enjoy.

Fireworks
This thing about good fireworks is that like great fiction, there needs to be a suspension of disbelief. You stop questioning what's happening and instead soak it in and enjoy it. All thoughts stop, instead replaced by a sense of awe. You're drawn in.
That's what it was like last night at the fourth of July Fireworks display in the town next to us. I sat there thinking about how it was just going to be the same as always. The first few went off and before I knew it, well I wasn't thinking much at all, just entranced by the bright lights in the night sky. Boom, Boom, Boom! Colours painting vividly on a black canvas. Close to magic.
And its that suspension of disbelief, that immersion into entertainment, that is when you know its something great. You're brain turns off, stops being skeptical of everything and just enjoys the ride. This goes for films, books, video games, music, plays.
Then perhaps, and this is a big perhaps, the greatest form of art or entertainment is then a dream. Well a non-lucid dream anyway, but from start to finish in a dream your disbelief is completely suspended. Usually it is not until waking that you have the revelation that oh! that was all a dream! just a thought..
